Title: Solution Architect 

Location of work: Canada, Greater Toronto Area – Toronto (M8X 2X9

Hours of work: 40 hours per week

Salary: 115,000 - 130,000 CAD

  • Authoring and implementing multichannel marketing hub solution architectures using enterprise marketing automation solutions from 3rd party vendors (SAS, also IBM, Adobe, etc.)

  • Capturing and analyzing client business, functional and technical requirements. Advising clients on requirements transformation, existing and legacy solution capabilities, best-practice technical and functional solution and integration architectures, best-practice business process transformation in accordance with solution capabilities. Leveraging cross-functional and cross-platform knowledge to develop best practice solution architectures and design in support of business processes; 

  • Producing detailed solution and functional design documents, conforming to client business requirements, integration requirements and other requirements

  • Identifying, diagramming, and documenting key technical integrations;

  • Leading customer-facing requirements gathering workshops, solution design review workshops, user training workshops

  • Identifying, conveying and asserting industry and professional solution and system best practices throughout solution architecture design and customer interactions

  • Leading and supervising solution development, migration and UAT efforts in a Project Lead / Technical Team Lead role. Supervise project delivery teams comprised of local and remote consultants and analysts;

  • Designing and conforming code and release management, backup and disaster recovery strategies and plans, planning and coordination of IT initiatives such as release deployment plan, disaster recovery validation plan, etc.

  • Authoring, designing and implementing solutions technical and deployment architectures - infrastructure sizing, deployment requirements, deployment architecture, security frameworks, etc. 

  • Reviewing solution architecture and detailed design produced by other consultants to comply with industry and company standards and best practices;

  • Coaching and transferring specialized knowledge, experience to the new hires;

  • Providing expert-level (escalation) solution, technical and user support. 



Canadian Citizen, or a Permanent Resident of Canada


A University degree in computer science, computer engineering, management information systems or a related field. 


  • Minimum 5 years of total experience in the Information Technology industry; 

  • Minimum 4 years of experience designing and implementing enterprise marketing technology software solutions (Campaign Management solutions, Omnichannel Real-Time Database Marketing solutions, Next Best Offer / Next Best Action decisioning systems, Marketing Hubs) in a Professional Services setting in consultative and customer-facing roles - acting as a liaison between client’s Business (Marketing) and IT. At least 2 years of that - in senior / leading roles (Senior / Lead Consultant, Team Leader, Solution Prime, Solution Architect, etc.).  

  • Candidates with equivalent experience obtained in end-client organizations (not in consulting) will be considered when their relevant experience spans at least 6 years, is obtained with multiple clients (at least two), and both in Business (Marketing Operations, Customer Base Management teams) and IT organizations (Marketing Technology development and/or support teams). 

  • Advanced solution knowledge of SAS Customer Intelligenceplatform including SAS Marketing Automation (mandatory) and SAS Real-Time Decision Manager (mandatory). Experience with other SAS CI or SAS CI 360 modules is an asset. Advanced solution knowledge must be obtained throughout a full-cycle implementation project, or at least 1 year of experience implementing and working with each component as Solution Consultant, Systems Architect, etc. Expertise must combine broad business subject matter and in-depth technical knowledge, including: typical business use cases and requirements, multichannel campaign management, response tracking and fulfillment; SAS solution functionality details; integration design patterns; solution architecture best practices, performance tuning and optimization strategy; expert knowledge of data models (SAS Common Data Model) and its usage for campaign reporting; solution customization capabilities, hands-on experience leveraging advanced solution functionality to meet complex business requirements.

  • Equivalent experience with competing product stacks by IBM, Adobe, Pega, Teradata is an asset, but experience with SAS solutions is a requirement. 

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of modern Digital Marketingtechnologies in web and mobile. Key business terminology and use cases (personalization, retargeting, remarketing, cross-channel attribution, RTB, app tracking, etc.) and relevant technologies (first-party and third-party cookies, pixels, tag management, DMPs and data marketplaces, etc.) from digital marketeer standpoint. Practical working experience with at least one commercial digital marketing cloud solution (Adobe, Oracle Marketing Cloud, SalesForce Marketing Cloud, SAS CI360, etc.) 

  • Strong subject matter and hands-on technical expertise with streaming event analytics, complex event processing solutions implemented for marketing event detection (SAS Event Stream Processing, TIBCO, IBM Unica Detect, Ni-Fi, WSO2, EVAM, etc.) and streaming event integration technologies (Kafka Streaming, Ni-Fi, etc.), practical experience implementing such technologies in production or pilot projects based on real use cases.  

  • Advanced technical knowledge of SAS 9 Intelligence Platform (Metadata, Deployment, Administration, product components, troubleshooting, etc.). Official certification by SAS is preferable (SAS Certified Platform Administrator for SAS 9 and SAS® Certified Intelligence Platform Deployment Professional for SAS®9) but an ability to demonstrate practical knowledge equivalent to these certifications scope is acceptable. 

  • Advanced knowledge of SAS programming languages (Base SAS, SAS Macro, SAS DS2). Official certification by SAS is considered an asset (SAS Certified Programmer for SAS 9), but an ability to demonstrate practical knowledge equivalent to these certifications scope is acceptable;

  • Advanced technical knowledge of Relational DBMS based on at least one commercially widespread database (Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, Teradata etc.): fluent SQL for complex queries, data models design experience, database programming (triggers and stored procedures), queries optimization and performance troubleshooting with at least 2 years of experience. Advanced knowledge of more than one DBMS is a plus;

  • Close hands-on familiarity with Linux or Unix-like operating systems: advanced usage, basic Shell programming;

  • Programmer / Software Developer skills: at least 2 years of experience as a Software Developer / Software Engineer (part of that may be a student experience) on any one of major languages: Java, Python, C#, C++, etc. Working knowledge of more than one language is an asset. 

  • Team Leadership experience (at least 1 year, with teams of 3+ members)

  • Broad acumen and strong ability to lead and support professional and consulting conversation both with Business audience (discussion of business value, business use cases, high-level solutions capability and roadmaps), Technical IT audience (discussion of technical solution architecture, implementation and integration details, data models, etc.) and mixed audiences.

  • Experience and Ability to come up and compare the merits of multiple solution design and architecture approaches considering and weighting multiple conflicting factors and convince other stakeholders, invoke and assert industry best practices.

  • Knowledge and experience in designing and supporting robust Technical Solution Architectures, ability to author and implement technical architecture designs and manage the implementation of the architecture components through their lifecycle.

  • Team Leadership and Project Leadership experience is a requirement

  • Ability to estimate cross-functional effort amounts required to deliver moderately sized projects (200-2000 hours scale).

  • Candidate should be a quick learner that can independently problem solve, balance multiple work streams concurrently, and work collaboratively with the team.

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of time
