We are launching a series of posts on Sustainability x Process Mining by T1A experts in applying Process Mining for sustainable development. Today, we'll figure out what sustainable development is and why it's important to know about it.
The term sustainability, or sustainable development, was coined in the 1980s and has become very popular in recent years.
πΏ Sustainable development is a strategy in which the quality of human life is improved while minimizing negative impacts on the environment, society, and economy. This means that economic and technological development should meet the needs of the current generation without endangering the needs of future generations. πΏ
The essence of sustainable development is to solve economic and environmental problems without harming other areas. For example, it is not worth closing production facilities due to air or water pollution, as this can lead to a shortage of jobs. Instead, we should think about how to develop industry taking into account environmental safety requirements.
Here, Process Mining comes to the rescue: based on process data, we can identify environmental, social, and economic problems and find the causes of their occurrence.
π In the next posts, we will discuss:
-> More about each aspect of sustainable development
-> Whether Process Mining is useful for supporting and increasing a company's sustainability rating.
Stay tuned!
