A few distinguished AI experts gathered at the Infosys Berlin office for an in-depth exploration of AI's ethical landscape. This event, in collaboration with Women in Big Data Berlin, adesso SE, and TÜV-Verband, focused on the trustworthiness and explainability of #AI and data science-driven products. The consensus? While significant progress is being made, there remains a substantial journey ahead to ensure AI systems are both trustworthy and fully explainable.
Among the notable contributors was our colleague, Yulia Tokareva, who expertly guided the panel discussion focused on the future of ethics and AI. The conversation highlighted several critical insights, including the pressing need for better regulation and standardization of AI. In addition to the panel discussion, the event featured several key presentations on other vital topics.
Katarzyna (Kasia) Stoltmann emphasized the importance of diversity in AI development teams to address unconscious biases. She shared best practices for fostering #inclusivity, highlighting that diverse teams are essential for creating equitable AI solutions.
Sofia Trojanowska 🇺🇦🇮🇱🇦🇲 discussed AI's dual role in climate change, highlighting its potential to consume energy equivalent to 735 power plants over the next 62 years. On a brighter note, she showcased AI's contributions to sustainability, with Infosys leading initiatives in green energy and sector coupling between AI and energy.
Andrea Hendrickx highlighted the need for human oversight in AI applications, sharing striking examples like security cameras mistaking patterned clothing for giraffes. She also outlined Infosys' Responsible AI Office principles and practical AI use cases, including Digital Twin AI Image Generation for online retail.
Joachim Bühler talked about the challenges of AI auditing, the EU AI Act's risk classifications, and the framework needed for testing AI systems. He pointed out that while TÜV is advancing standardized AI validation, many questions remain, such as the regulation's impact on the Open Source AI Community.
